She claims she sent him P0*nographic texts messages as “s*xual therapy” to motivate him to be a better student. “That was my purpose, to gain his attention. And yes, I did it in an inappropriate way,” Ethel Anderson, who was 29 at the time the abuse began, said in court.
According to reports, over 230 pages of sexually explicit text messages were sent between the teacher and student.

Although she admitted sending the texts, she denied any contact occurred, and claimed the victim threatened to turn her in.
The victim, now 14, also testified about the alleged abuse on Tuesday.
“We sat on the couch and we started doing s*xual stuff. At first I told her to stop… she was rubbing on my leg, but then it just led to more,” the victim told the court. “She would say she wanted me so bad and she wanted me to go farther [sic]… I just did not want to lose my virginity to a teacher.”
It was reported that the abuse occurred during math tutoring sessions at Anderson’s home between December 2011 and February 2012.
In testimony, the victim told the court that at the time, he thought he was “living a guy’s dream… [of] dating a teacher,” but that he didn’t tell anyone because he “knew she’d get in trouble.”
If convicted, Anderson faces up to 30 years in prison.

President Goodluck Jonathan sacked nine ministers on Wednesday in his first major cabinet reshuffle, as he looked to rally support in an increasingly divided ruling party, PDP. Jonathan removed the ministers of foreign affairs, education, science and technology, housing and urban development, national planning, and environment, ministers of state for power, agriculture and defense, from the 39-member cabinet, a Presidency spokesman Reuben Abati said.

A 25-year-old pastor, Samson Bamgbose, was on Monday, arraigned before an Abeokuta Chief Magistrate Court, Isabo, Ogun State for allegedly causing the death of a church member, wh odrowned during a spiritual bath. Bamgbose, a pastor at the Celestial Church of Christ, Alaapa, is facing a one-count charge of negligence. The police prosecutor, Mr Paul Etusi, told the court that the offence was committed on August 15 at 3p.m. in Ogun River, Alaapa village, Abeokuta. He said the accused took some church members, including the deceased, Toheeb Odusanya,13, to the river for spiritual bath. “Bamgbose took the little boy to the river without his parent’s consent. He did not take the necessary precaution, and allowed the boy to drown,” the prosecutor said. Etusi said the offence contravened section 344 of the Criminal Code of Ogun, 2006. The accused, however, pleaded not guilty. The magistrate, Mr Anthony Araba, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case till October 2.
United States,Defence/Security, Twelve years after the 9/11 attack, the US national security team pledged to take "measures to prevent 9/11 related attacks and to ensure the prot ection of US persons and facilities abroad", a White House statement said.US President Barack Obama has reportedly met Defence Secretary Chuck Hagel and other national security officials on the eve of the 12th anniversary of the Sep 11 attacks and reviewed security measures.
"September 11th has been a day of remembrance for Americans and others around the world," White House spokesman Jay Carney said in the statement.
The attack on the US consulate in Benghazi, Libya, last year also "brought home the reality of the challenges we face in the world," he added.
Wednesday marks the 12th anniversary of Sep 11, 2001, terrorist attacks against the US and the first anniversary of the Benghazi attack that killed US ambassador Christopher Stevens and three American citizens.

Expedition 36 crew members have returned to Earth from the International Space Station, landing safely in Kazakhstan on Tuesday. Chris Cassidy of NASA and Pavel Vinogradov and Alexander Misurkin of the Russian Federal Space Agency, who launched to the station March 29, spent 166 days in space.
They completed 2,656 orbits of Earth and traveled more than 70 million miles. Vinogradov conducted one spacewalk, bringing his career total to seven spacewalks with an accumulated time of 38 hours, 25 minutes. Misurkin conducted three spacewalks for a total of 20 hours, 1 minute. Cassidy conducted three spacewalks, bringing his career total to six with an accumulated time of 31 hours, 14 minutes.
During their time aboard the orbiting laboratory, the crew members saw the arrival of the European ATV-4cargo spacecraft, the Japanese HTV-4 cargo spacecraft and two Russian Progress resupply spacecraft.
The trio also worked on hundreds of research experiments and science investigations that will have benefits for future human spaceflight and life on Earth.

BlackBerry shareholder Prem Watsa might acquire the sinking Ontario-based company. Watsa, referred as Canada's 'Warren Buffett' runs Fairfax Financial Holdings, which holds a 10 percent stake in BlackBerry, making it the company's largest shareholder.
According to the New York Post, Watsa is closing in on a rescue deal for BlackBerry and has already assembled billions in backing from Canada's largest pension funds for a bid.
The mobile manufacturing company and its advisers have scrambled to move ahead with a rapid sales process aimed at finding a buyer by November.
Fairfax didn't comment on the matter while a BlackBerry spokesperson said that the company cannot comment on speculation surrounding Watsa and his efforts
The cause of obesity and insulin resistance may be linked to the fructose a person's body makes in addition to the fructose they eat, latest research has shown the facts. The conclusion come in light when the team led by researchers at the University of Colorado School of Medicine claimed that fatty liver and insulin resistance may also result from fructose produced in the liver from non-fructose containing carbohydrates.
First authors are Miguel Lanaspa, PhD, and Takuji Ishimoto, MD, reported that mice can convert glucose to fructose in the liver, and that this conversion was critical for driving the development of obesity and insulin resistance in mice fed glucose.
Richard Johnson, MD, professor of medicine and chief of the division of renal diseases and hypertension at the School of Medicine, said that their study shows that much of the riskfrom ingesting high glycemic foods is actually due to the generation of fructose, which is a low glycemic sugar.
The study has been published in the Nature Communications.

A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State, Prince Buruji Kashamu, has accused former President Olusegun Obasanjo of master-minding the ongoing crisis in the ruling party at the national level.Kashamu in a statement, yesterday, in Abeokuta, described Obasanjo action as deceitful.

President of the Senate, Senator David Mark yesterday took stock of the lingering Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike and pleaded with the religious leaders across the country to quickly intervene in the crisis rocking the nation’s education sector.Addressing the 2nd plenary Assembly of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) in Otukpo Benue state yesterday, Senator Mark said the differences between the Federal Government and ASUU requires spiritual intervention in order to end the imbroglio.
The end to the industrial action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, is not in sight as the union’s President, Dr. Isa Fagge, has said that students d on’t want lecturers to end the strike.Fagge said the students had instead urged them to continue with the industrial actions since the Federal Government did not want to implement the agreement it had with union since 2009.
The union leader who stated this in an interview with Punch said they had decided to heed the advice of the students to continue the strike until the Federal Government is ready toshift ground.

NASA plan to launch an orbiter this week that will bring broadband capabilites to the moon. The 2013 Miss World pageant is scheduled to hold at the Sentul International Convention Center in Jakarta, Indonesia on Saturday September 28th..but it won't hold if the Muslim wo men in the country have their way. For days now, members of an Islamic group called Hizbut Tahrir have been protesting against the pageant in Jakarta. Yesterday, they converge outside the office of the local organizer of the beauty contest, MNC media group, warning them not to stage the pageant in the city.
Other cities are also holding protests, demanding that the permit to hold Miss World pageant in their country be revoked, saying that the pageant runs against their culture.
MNC Group and Miss World Organization say it's too late to find a new location but promised that contestants would not be allowed to wear bikini at the event.

Nemesis recently caught up with a notorious cult member, identified as Tunde Lawal, when he was reportedly shot in the chest during a clash with rival groups.
