While pop icons Rihanna and Lady Gaga were recently spotted donning clothing and accessories that were made from animal products, their fashion choices have drawn extreme ire from PETA representatives.

According to a report by HuffingtonPost on
Sunday, the animal rights organization was none too happy after seeing Rihanna on the streets of London on Thursday wearing a pair ofsnakeskin boots.

"Rihanna may not have a clue that snakes killed for boots are often nailed to a tree and skinned alive,” a PETA spokesperson claimed. “Of course, they can't go on Oprah to cry about it. Wearing reptile skin is creepy and callous, and it makes her look even more out of touch.

[Rihanna] and Lady Gaga seem so desperate to be freaks instead of recognized for their talents that you have to wonder if they realize that they are being laughed at.”

Lady Gaga used to be in good standing with PETA, even mentioning how she never wore fur on a 2009 appearance on the “Ellen DeGeneres Show”. However, the 26-year old was deemed a hypocrite by PETA last month after she was spotted wearing a number of fur coats in public.
