The Special Assistant to Imo state governor on public matters, Nkiru Sylvanus who was kidnapped on Sunday in Owerri while filming a special public relations project for the state has been released on Thursday evening.
The actress who was kidnapped along with ex-Mr Nigeria, Kenneth Okolie were freed after five days as their captors reportedly tied their eyes and dropped them off at an unknown location where they were able to call friends to come pick them up.
It is not known yet whether ransom was paid or not.
A 6-year-old Egyptian child girl was strangled to death by her uncle and step mother after she saw them in an indecent position.
The incident occurred when the young victim, Mena-M, suddenly woke up from her sleep to find her uncle and her stepmother in bed.
When the couple realised what the girl had witnessed, they strangled her to death.
The officials were tipped off when a general clinic reported receiving the body of a dead girl. The police questioned the girl’s father, Mahmoud-Z, who said that his daughter was suffering from some abdominal trouble and was taken to private clinic where she was examined. However, he claimed that he was surprised by her death.
The father confirmed that he did not accuse anyone of causing the death of his daughter, but the girl’s post-mortem revealed abrasions and bruises around her neck area. The report also revealed bleeding from the nose.
Extensive investigations confirmed that the girl’s uncle, Mohammed, was involved in an illicit relationship with her stepmother, Aml-MS.
The investigation indicated that the girl was sleeping on a couch in the bedroom and her presence went unnoticed by her stepmother and her uncle when they entered the room.
When she woke up and the couple realised that the girl would let their secret out to her father, they decided to kill her.
The defendants were arrested and they confessed to strangling the girl.
The police referred the case to the prosecution to complete the legal measures.
After being insane for a decade, a 40-year-old mentally derailed woman, Olubisi Aina, has incredibly regained her sanity.
The miraculous incident occurred at Sanyo area of Ibadan, Oyo State, penultimate Monday.
Reports say, Aina the mad woman was known for roaming the Sanyo-Temidire-Agbamu road stark unclad. Everyday, she retired to her corner on the main road around the bridge on Damo River, a routine she never skipped.
And like every other day, she was sleeping close to the bridge as usual on Monday, when a car ran over her. Her mouth and legs were badly bruised in the accident, and was rushed to the Oore-Ofe Hospital and Maternity Home where she was admitted for some days.
After being discharged, the patron of the hospital, Mr Toyin Adesina, advised that Aina should have a bath and when she did, she became sane again.
Local media report that she regained her sanity after being led by acquaintances to Damo River where she was given new sponge and soap for her bath. While having her bath, she reportedly said “Thank you God” in Yoruba Language and from that point began to speak normally and she became sane.
A WOMAN who allegedly stomped her 92-year-old grandmother because she feared the old woman was possessed by a demon may face stiff penalties now that the victim has died.
Angela Armstrong died recently at a hospital in St. Louis Country, Mo, following the November 21 attack by her granddaughter, Rachel Armstrong.
The younger woman threw her grandmother down the stairs before stomping her, which left Angela with broken arms and eight cracked ribs.
The granddaughter confessed, police said, and was charged with first-degree elder abuse. The grandmother’s death has authorities considering stiffer charges though.
At the time of the attack, Rachel Armstrong, a nurse by trade, told police she thought her grandmother was a demon and tried to beat it out of her before tucking her in bed.

Italy’s highest court on Wednesday rejected an appeal by a couple who said they should not have been convicted of obscene acts in public because they had s*x outside while the rest of their town was inside watching a soccer match.
The couple, then a 60-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman, were caught having s*x outside in southern Italy in 2006 while the national soccer team was playing in the World Cup soccer quarter-finals in Germany.
Their defense at a previous trial was that they had timed their tryst under the stars so they would not offend anyone, because everyone else would be watching the game on television.
They were convicted and brought their case to Rome’s Court of Cassation, the highest appeals court, where they lost again.
For the record, Italy played Ukraine that night and won 3-0, going on to win the tournament in a final against France.

Following his swearing-in for a new term of four years on Monday, Edo state governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has gradually begun to breathe life into his administration by announcing new appointments.
It would be recalled that the governor last week Friday, dissolved his cabinet as well as relieved his aides of their appointments.
Under the new appointments, former PDP stalwart, Professor Julius Ihonvbere has been named the new Secretary to the Edo state government SSG while two-time House of Representativesmember, Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon, has been appointed as the new Chief of Staff to the Governor.

A one-eyed goat that was born on a farm in Perundurai, Erode district, drew crowds to the farm as curious people paid a visit to see the rarity.
The farm owner, Kandasamy, 45, who has been breeding goats for the past 10 years, said that this was the first such occurrence.
“I have never witnessed such an incident in the past,” he said. “A female goat gave birth to two calves, one of whom has just one eye right in the centre of its forehead.”
Vetenarians pointed out that it was an anomaly and the outcome of a genetic disorder.
According to Coimbatore VOC Park Zoo director Dr K. Asokan, it’s a genetic disorder and caused due to chromosome changes in the goat’s system. “It’s rare to see such goats in the villages,” he said.
