Monaco have denied they may be forced to part with striker Radamel Falcao because of the row brewing over the club's tax status.

As they are based in the tax haven of Monte Carlo, Monaco, who were acquired by Russian businessman Dmitry Rybolovlev in 2011, can pay their stars huge, tax-exempt salaries, whichtheir Ligue 1 rivals cannot match.

There is the prospect France could pass a new tax rate on incomes over €1 million of 75 per cent, greatly reducing the bargaining power of the other 19 clubs in Ligue 1.
But the French league has now ruled Monaco must relocate their headquarters to France by June 2014, making them subject to the same tax conditions as their rivals.

This has led to reports some of the club's big-name arrivals, such as Falcao, Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez, could be forced to leave the principality-based outfit.
Spanish newspaper Marca reported on Thursday that Falcao's agent Jorge Mendes had been discussing his client with clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester United and Real Madrid.

"The club deny categorically rumours around a sale of Falcao," Monaco wrote on their official Twitter account.

"It was more my mind-set rather than anything particularly tactical in football terms.
"I've always had a huge appreciation of that and, even when he wasn't at the club and has been away, we've stayed in touch.

"I wouldn't say (we're like) father-son because he has a very good way, as all the best managers do, of being quite familiar with you and helping you, but also remaining a manager.
"He's not a father figure too much, so you have to respect him. I think we've tried to find the right mix in our relationship and maybe we have done."

"He is transmitting a lot to us. We are recovering a little of the intensity and rhythm that perhaps we lost for various reasons towards the end of last season. We are pressing very well and working well physically.

"He is adding things that he is influencing a lot. For example, on set-pieces we are working differently. We are adjusting and he is a guy that is very clear about what he wants."
