Tragedy struck at 9am local time as the privately-owned overcrowded bus travelled from Chamba - a remote mountainous district area of northern India on Saturday, fell into a deep gorge of 300ft killing 52 people and injuring 46 others, the police said. Continue below....
The bus, which had seats for 60 people, was so overcrowded that some people were riding on its roof, said the police superintendent, Kuldeep Sharma.
