Nigerian football legend Austin 'Jay Jay' Okocha, threw a lavish 40th birthday party for his wife of 16 years, Nkechi Okocha on Friday October 25th at Civic Centre in Lagos. Army chief names two soldiers found with mobile phones and cameras apparently stolen during deadly Westgate siege.

After previously saying Kenyan soldiers only took water from Nairobi's Westgate shopping centre during a deadly siege, the head of the army now says his men looted a variety of items.
General Julius Karangi identified the looters as Victor Otieno and Victor Ashiundu.

He said the two soldiers were found with mobile phones, cameras and chargers that were stolen from the shopping centre during the siege, which left 67 people dead.

"Discipline is our core driving point and we are not playing with this issue," he said. "That is why we have taken action on these soldiers. Two of them have been jailed and dismissed while a third one is under probe."
The attack was the largest in Kenya since the 1998 bombings by al-Qaeda of the US embassy in Nairobi, the capital.

The Somali group al-Shabaab claimed responsibly for the attack, saying it was in retribution for Kenya's military involvement in Somalia, which began in October 2011.

Security camera video

Two weeks ago, a security camera video seen by the Associated Press news agency showed men in fatigues walking out of the Westgate holding plastic bags filled with unknown items.
Others looked behind counters as they moved into the shopping centre.
Kenya's security forces denied any wrongdoing and politicians who investigated the soldiers said they had stolen nothing.
Many questions, including what caused a part of the mall to collapse, remain unanswered more than a month after the attack. Kenyan officials have urged patience, saying they need more time to investigate the scene.

Local and foreign investigators have since been digging through the rubble for evidence, and at least four bodies believed to be those of the attackers have been retrieved.

Suspects in custody

Ndegwa Muhoro, Kenya's director of criminal investigations, said on Tuesday that five suspects were in custody and that two other suspects believed to have played a role in the attack were still at large.
He identified the wanted suspects as Kenyan national Abdikadir Haret Mohamed, who also is known as
Mohamed Hussein, as well as a Somali national named Adan Dheq.
Dheq also is known as Hussein Abdi Ali or Abdulahi Dugon Subow.

The two suspects owned the Mitsubishu salon car registration that police seized outside the shopping centre, nearly a week after the attack.
Police found explosives and weapons inside the car, he said.

Former President of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Mustapha Amego, has died after a long battle with colon cancer. The musician and former TV personality, who relocated to the US many years ago, died yesterday October 23rd in Baltimore, Maryland, US.

For those who don't remember him, he was one of the host of popular 90's weekly music-dance show, Sunday Rendezvous. Mustapha was also PMAN president  from 1993 to 1996. After his  tenure, he relocated to the US where he worked with the Discovery Channel as a content producer and editor.

He will be buried today according to Muslim rites. May his soul rest in peace...Amen.

During his interview on Jimmy Kimmel last week, Kanye said he doesn't understand why his reality star baby mama Kim Kardashian doesn't have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

"I want to shout out to the stars on the Walk of Fame because they said something about they're not going to put my girl on the Walk of Fame because she's a reality star. People are so so dated and not modern.

There's no way Kim Kardashian shouldn't have a star on the Walk of Fame." Kanye said on Jimmy Kimmel Well, Kanye now has his answer. According to Ana Martinez, a spokeswoman for the Walk and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, Kim doesn't qualify to receive a star on the legendary sidewalk.

Actor Jamie Foxx is denying rumors that he and actress Katie Holmes are an item. Foxx is reportedly secretly dating the ex-wife of his bestie, actor Tom Cruise (if you miss it read it hear). The rumors spread like wildfire after In Touch quoted “multiple sources” who confirmed Foxx and Holmes were involved in a romantic relationship.

The sources told In Touch that Foxx was a frequent visitor to Holmes’ NY apartment. Foxx is in NY filming the remake of the Broadway musical Annie.

Foxx said the rumors began swirling after he and Holmes shared an intimate dance at a party.

A team from the United States assisted with the first operation
Heart surgeries are now being performed at the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan, with the first one being on a 19-year-old boy, on Monday.

The boy’s surgery, which lasted three hours, was among the three slated for the commencement of the operations.

It was done in collaboration with a team of heart surgeons from the United States of America.
Head of the medical team from the U.S., Paul Davids, from Delaware, disclosed that they had replaced the bad valves in the boy’s heart.
He also confirmed that U.C.H was now well-equipped to carry out heart surgeries.

Also speaking, the Chief Medical Director of UCH, Tope Alonge, said the project would be run in collaboration with the Cardiovascular Institute, where Mr. Davids works.

A professor and head of the Department of Paediatrics, Samuel Omokhodion, who led the cardiovascular team from the UCH, said the cost of the operations in Nigeria would not be different from what is obtainable in other developing countries of the world.

Five percent of the participants believed rape was caused by illiteracy about women’s rights, ungodliness and bad company.

Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State on Sunday granted amnesty to 15 convicts to mark the 53rd Independence anniversary of Nigeria.
The beneficiaries of the governor’s gesture were serving terms in Awka, Onitsha and Enugu Prisons.
Five of them who were granted release came from Awka Prison. They are Tochukwu Anene, Okoye Agbata, Titus Iloba and Onyeka Osuani.

Those who were released from Onitsha Prison are Chukwudum Ibeto, Nnaemeka Azubuenyi, Chinonso Ibeto, Ikechukwu Ohuoba and Okechukwu Ezeobi.
Others from same Onitsha prison who were also released are Ifeanyi Okongwu, Chigozie Eze, Chinedu Nweke and Ogbonna Uka.
Ikechukwu Nwafor had his life jail commuted to twenty-one years imprisonment from the date of his sentence, while Okwudili Okoye who was a condemned convict, will now serve a life jail term.

A Government House statement said the grant of amnesty was in compliance with the Constitution and in accordance with Section 3 of the Anambra State Advisory Council on Prerogativeof Mercy Law.

A close family friend of Feyi, son of late Chief Agagu, who is one of the survivors of the ill fated Associated Airlines flight, told Vanguard that he (Feyi) was initially reluctant to enter the plane after seeing how old it looked. (The exact plane pictured right). He and others survived basically by sitting at the back of the plane. Below is what a family insider Feyi spoke to said;
“The young man said that once they got to the tarmac before boarding and once he sighted the plane, what struck him was the seemingly very old look of the plane. Not only was the casket carrying Agagu's corpse intact after the plane crashed on Thursday morning, people who opened the casket shortly after the crash said the cap on his head stayed intact and his body wasn't ruffled. These discoveries have baffled so many, with some insinuating it's juju. But the reason is really simple. The casket was latched to the hooks in the cargo compartment of the plane and was placed in the rear end of the plane. People who sat at the back of the plane survived the crash, so the casket, which was kept at the back also survived the crash.
