A businessman in the Indian city of Lucknow was reeling under enormous debts. He thought of getting himself murdered so that his family could claim the life insurance money.

He got in touch with a few goons who agreed to carry out the murder and Rs10,000 exchanged hands, reports The Times of India.

The man's body was later
recovered by the police. He was shot on his back and strangulated to death.

When the police was clueless about the motive behind his murder, they traced his phonecalls and tracked down the culprits who spilled the beans.

He owed various lending institutions in excess of Rs 50 lakh and his life insurance policy was for Rs 70 lakh. He could not commit suicide as in the event of an unnatural death his family would not be paid off. Hence, he plotted his own murder.

On the fateful day, the killers consumed alcohol and the victim took some pills, the culprits told the police. Then the victim was shot from the back and when he fell down, he was strangled to death.

Unfortunately for the family, the man lost his life for nothing as they are unlikely to receive even a penny from the insurance firm now.
