The Governor said he is innocent until proven otherwise by a court of law.
The former Bayelsa State Governor, Timipre Sylva, has denied ownership of two buildings reportedly valued at over N1 billion, located in Abuja.
The Economic and financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had accused Mr. Sylva of
using cronies to acquire choice property across Nigeria including the two Abuja houses.
In a statement by his media adviser, the former governor denied ownership of the Abuja houses.
“He knows nothing about them. In fact, he is reading about ownership of the said buildings for the first time,” Doifie Ola.
The former governor claimed that he is being tried in the media and is not guilty of the allegations against him.
“Sylva is clear that under Nigerian laws, he remains innocent of all the charges against him until all the evidence has been tested in a court of competent jurisdiction,” Mr. Ola said.
