Five persons were on Tuesday
confirmed dead in an motor accident while eight others sustained various degree of injuries in a crash that occurred at Zariagi by Kabba junction along the Lokoja- Abuja Highway.
Eyewitness account said the accident
which happens at about 12 pm involved four vehicles, a Toyota Hiace bus, Toyota Seina, Toyata Corrola, and DAF truck respectively.
"The accident happened when one of the vehicle heading towards the
southern part of the country overtook dangerously and in the process collided with another vehicle coming from the opposite direction while the two other
vehicles rammed into them from behind killing five persons and injured eight on the spot". He said.
The Kogi Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Commission, Muhammed Garba who confirmed the accident blamed it on dangerous overtaken.
He said 31 people were involved in the accident and that five person died, eight injured while others escaped unhurt.
According to him, among the dead were three male adults, one female adult and one child, adding that the corpses have been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre morgue while the injured one was taken to the same hospital for medical attention.
