Just as the community is still reeling off the tragedy that struck on Monday, two soldiers were shot dead by unknown gunmen in Okene, Kogi state, on Tuesday.

This is coming after
a day after no fewer than 16 worshippers at a Deeper Life Bible Church were killed by attackers in the same town.

Confirming the incident to our Kogi state correspondent, the Commandant Army headquarters battalion in Lokoja, the state capital, Lt. Col. Gabriel Olorunyomi said his men received a distress call from Okene local government area office.

On getting there, the gunmen came out from a nearby bush and opened fire on the soldiers killing the two soldiers.

He added that one of the gunmen was also gunned down by the soldiers but the attackers succeeded in escaping with the body.

The incident happened just after the state governor; Mr. Idris Wada left Okene after his visit to commiserate with the victims of the Deeper Life church attack.
