A LIFETIME of photocalls awaits him but few will be as relaxed as Prince George's first official pictures, taken by his grandfather Michael Middleton.

Cradled in his mother's arms and swaddled in a white blanket, the third in line to the throne, a future King, was as oblivious to events as to the burden of duties that eventually await him. see more pix below....

Lying peacefully in the arms of the Duchess of Cambridge in a shady spot in the back garden of the Middleton family home in Bucklebury, Berkshire, the newborn Prince, his head crowned by a soft layer of downy hair, appeared to sleep through it all.

Taken when he was between two and three weeks old in early August, the intimate pictures show his parents staring proudly into the camera, Prince William with a protective arm around his wife Kate.
The 31-year-old Duchess is wearing a maroon dress, believed to be a £50 knot front cap sleeve maternity dress by Seraphine, with her hair in long waves over her shoulders. William, also 31, is in jeans and a blue shirt with the top buttons undone.

In one of the photos, the royal couple are joined by their black cocker spaniel, Lupo, and the Middletons' golden retriever, Tilly, can just be seen lying down behind them. Williamhas one arm around his wife and the other around Lupo.

The photos were released by Kensington Palace exactly four weeks after George was born. "It was always something we wanted to do for the UK newspapers," a senior royal aide said.

"As far as we're concerned, they're a couple of gentle, informal family photographs. The time will come for more formal photographs around the christening later in the year."
The publication of the photographs will inevitably be aimed at puncturing a market in paparazzi pictures of the royal baby but the palace was keen to stress that, although the choice of Mr Middleton to take the photographs broke with tradition, the couple and their infant will also be posing for press photographers in the near future.

"This isn't a sign of things to come," said the senior aide. "The reason it was done like this was just because we thought it would be a little bit more relaxed."
It is not clear how much experience Mr Middleton has of taking pictures but the flight dispatcher-turned businessmen is now assured of his place in the history of royal photography.

Since the pictures were taken, William has returned to work as a search and rescue helicopter pilot at RAF Valley in Anglesey and his wife and son, as well as George's granny, Carole Middleton, have been up to stay with him in North Wales.
