Lagos -The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), on Thursday night arrested three suspected armed robbers at their hideout in Ikorodu, Lagos.

A reliable police source said in Lagos on Friday that the `sting operation’ followed the earlier arrest of a member of the gang
by the police in Ijede, also near Ikorodu.

“The suspected armed robber, who was in detention, took SARS detectives to Ikorodu where their gang leader and two others were arrested.

“A Brownie Pistol with nine rounds of ammunition and a locally made single barrel pistol with four live cartridges, were also recovered from the gang,’’ the source said.

The source said that the operation, led by SP Abba Kyari, took place at 10 p.m., adding that the suspects were currently in SARS detention.

When contacted, the Lagos State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Ngozi Braide, confirmed the arrest.

She said that investigations was still ongoing in order arrest some other members of the gang. (NAN)
