Suspected terrorists, who stormed Mahuta village in the outskirt of
Kaduna, at the weekend, were chased by youths from the area, leading to
the arrest of two while a youth lost his life.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Kaduna State, DSP Aminu Lawal, confirmed the arrest of the
two gunmen by youths of the community.
An eyewitness said the gunmen had tried to gain access into
the village head’s residence with intent to kill or injure him, but he managed to scale the fence and escape. the confusion that ensued attracted youths in the area who pursued the gunmen while hauling stones at them. in the process seven of the youths secured gunshot wounds.
Source further learnt that the injured persons were taken to the hospital for medical attention where one person died and had been buried according to Islamic religious rites.
The police, however, expressed appreciation to the community for their vigilance and quick response which led to the timely intervention of the joint task force made up of the military and the police.
DSP Lawal said the police had commenced investigation into the incident while security in the area had been beefed up.
