Vincent Kompany is confident that Manchester City will be able to compete on all fronts after a tough pre-season under Manuel Pellegrini.

City failed to retain their Premier League crown last season, lost the FA Cup final to Wigan Athletic and struggled in the UEFA Champions League, failing win a single match as they were eliminated in the group stages.

However, Kompany is keen to put those disappointments behind him and believes a new approach under Pellegrini can provide
the catalyst for a change in their fortunes.

The Belgium international has been encouraged by the progress his team-mates have been making under the Chilean, and predicts they will be better equipped to challenge in every competition this term.

"It puts a smile on my face because there is nothing better than to know you are going to be competing for some of the most wanted prizes in the world, and we have the team to do it,” he told the club's official website.

"It has been a problem for English teams, and ourselves definitely, coping with the Champions League, the Premier League and all of the other competitions.

"We have changed our approach a little bit, so we will see at the end of the season."
City have strengthened their ranks during the close-season with the signings of Fernandinho, Jesus Navas, Alvaro Negredo and Stevan Jovetic.
