The Cross River Government said on Friday it spent N100 million on Tinapa Business Resort, to host about 9,000 delegates of the forthcoming Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) conference in Calabar.

Mr Bassey Ndem, the Managing Director of the resort, announced this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Calabar.
He expressed gratitude to Gov. Liyel Imoke "for his continued assistance to Tinapa Business Resort".

Ndem said the amount was spent "to fast tract the replacement of our massive air conditioning units which will guarantee the comfort of 10,000 guests''.

Indeed the gesture has empowered us to play host to the 9,000 strong NBA delegates to the conference taking place from Aug. 25 to Sept. 1 at Tinapa.

The emporium is the only facility that can host 10,000 people in a covered air conditioned arena,'' Ndem said.

He also commended the state government for its ``healthy synergy of consistent interventions''.
Ndem said the interventions were "clear indication of the commitment to ensure that the resort attained its corporate dream".

He said Tinapa management's dream was to become the most preferred business destination in Nigeria.
Ndem said that similar interventions by government in the past had enabled the Tinapa Lakeside Hotel management to generate N99 million in a month.
